How to Use the Light Calculator

1. Select the Room Type

Choose the room for which you want to calculate the lighting requirement.

The available options may include:

• Bedroom
• Living room
• Dining room
• Drawing room
• Balcony

Select the correct room type because the lighting requirement can differ according to the purpose of the space.

2. Enter the Room Dimensions

Enter the following measurements in feet:

• Room length
• Room width
• Ceiling height

Use the actual internal measurements of the room. Measure the distance between the internal walls instead of using the complete dimensions of the property.

For example, enter a length of 12 feet only when the distance from one internal wall to the opposite wall is 12 feet.

Incorrect or unusually large measurements can affect the result produced by the Light Calculator for Room.

3. Select a Wipro Lighting Product

Choose a Wipro lighting product from the dropdown menu. The available products may differ in:

• Wattage
• Lumen output
• Shape
• Size
• Light colour

The selected product affects the estimated quantity. A product with a lower lumen output may require more units than a higher-output product for the same room.

Check the individual product specifications before making your selection, as features and technical details can vary between models.

4. Select Calculate

After completing all the fields, select Calculate.

The LED Calculator will use the room and product details to show the estimated number of light units required.

Changing the room dimensions, ceiling height, or selected product may change the result.

How to Read the Calculator Result

Depending on the product selected, the result may show:

• Estimated number of units
• Selected product name

• Total lumens required
• Product availability

The unit count applies only to the product selected in the calculator. Choosing another product may provide a different result because its wattage and lumen output may differ.

Lux, Lumens and Wattage

Understanding these terms can help you read the result correctly.

Lumens

Lumens measure the total amount of visible light produced by a light source. A product with a higher lumen output generally produces more light.

Lux

Lux measures the amount of light reaching one square metre of a surface. Different spaces can have different lux requirements based on how they are used.

For example, kitchens and other task-oriented areas generally need higher lux levels than corridors or lobbies.

Wattage

Wattage measures the electrical power consumed by the light. It does not directly measure brightness.

When you calculate lux level, the amount of light and the area across which it is distributed both matter. The calculator simplifies this process by combining the room details with the selected product's specifications.

The result may show the total lumen requirement rather than a separate lux value.

Does the Calculator Cover Decorative Lighting?

The LED Light Calculator estimates the quantity of the product selected for the room.

Ambient Lighting

They provide the main illumination across a room. Ceiling lights, bulbs and panel lights are commonly used for this purpose.

Task Lighting

They provide focused light for activities such as reading, cooking, studying or working. Table lamps, cabinet lights and focused fixtures can support these activities.

Accent and Decorative Lighting

These can highlight walls, artwork, shelves or architectural details.

Plan these additional layers separately unless the selected product is intended to provide the room's main illumination.

Important Note

The LED Light Calculator provides an estimate, not an exact lighting layout. Natural light, room colours, furniture, fixture placement and the room's use can affect the final requirement.
